EOTD - Blue liners

Hi lovelies,

I'd like to share with you all a very simple look I decided to go with today; I've been neglecting my coloured liners a little bit and so decided to show them some love!

All I wore today was my Urban Decay Primer Potion in Sin (reviewed in part here), over the eyelid to brighten up the area a little, Mirenesse Tightliner in Sapphire Blue on the upper lash line, and Napoleon Perdis Denim on the lower lash liner, and finished with Max Factor False Lash Effect waterproof mascara.

Keep in mind it was a bit brighter when applied this morning, I took these photos at the end of the day. It is a bit more vivid in real life, my camera doesn't really do it justice!

Hope you enjoyed this simple look, lovelies! Do you often wear coloured liner?

Much love,
MM.

NOTD - OPI Spark de Triomphe

Hi lovelies,

I hope you've all had a wonderful weekend...alas, the weekend is over all too soon and it's back to the grindstone in a few measly hours.

Today I have an NOTD that I've been meaning to show you all for a while, and that's OPI Spark de Triomphe. This is a colour I've been in love with for a while, it somehow flatters almost every skin tone! This polish was part of the Serena Williams Grand Slam range and I believe it's been discontinued, but I did manage to find it on sale online and snapped it up quickly! If you're keen on it, have a look online because it's really a very stunning polish. I got lots of compliments when wearing this.

It's a microglitter polish comprising lots of silver and gold glitter particles, which actually works beautifully when applied on it's own, as well as over a base colour. These photos are of three coats of Spark de Triomphe worn over Poshe basecoat, and finished off with Poshe topcoat. I did notice a bit of chipping after a few days, but I've been finding that quite common with a lot of glitter polishes. The lovely thing about this polish is it looks silver in some light and gold in others, which makes it very versatile when it comes to matching your wardrobe and accessories to your manicure.

Excuse the wrinkly looking fingers but I had
to put this photo up to show off my matching ring. :P

As is normal with most glitter polishes, this one is a bit hard to remove but I just soak a cotton pad in nail polish remover, hold it to the nail for a minute or so and then wipe it off, and it does come off relatively easily. It definitely is a gorgeous polish to wear to a party or a special occasion!

Much love,
MM.

June Lust Have It Review!

Hi lovelies,

I hope we're all well today! Thank goodness for hump day, the weekend is a short two days away! :)

I want to share my review of the June LHI box, which arrived today! This month's box arrived in a gorgeous little purple bag (think royal purple). Here's what I received in my box this month:

LonVitalite 24K Active Golden Yulan Oil Facial Mask (sample)

LonVitalite 24K Active Gold Full Eye Mask (sample)

Batiste - Blush Dry Shampoo (sample)

Bloom Glitter Eyeliner (full sized) - I received this in Rising Star, which is a black gold sparkle.

Marc Jacobs - Lola perfume sample

Roberto Cavalli perfume sample

On to the photographs:

The purple bag (I think my camera makes it look blue, sorry)!

The goodies!

Information card (click for pricing).

The facial mask, eye mash and Batiste mini dry shampoo.

Roberto Cavalli perfume sample, Marc Jacobs Lola perfume sample,
and Bloom glitter eyeliner.

Swatch of the glitter liner - Rising Star.

So what did I think of this month's samples?

I haven't ever heard of the mask/eye mask brand, LonVitalite, but these masks sound very interesting! I'm guilty of not spending enough time pampering my skin, particularly my eyes, and these masks sound so very luxurious! I'm looking forward to putting aside 30 minutes this weekend to enjoying a little pamper session with these, and who knows, I might discover something amazing!

As for the Batiste dry shampoo, well, I'm pretty sure most of us have used this before, so there isn't much to say about it. Dry shampoo is a staple in my beauty regime, so a cute, travel sized can will never go astray. I also really like the perfume samples, Lola is one of my favourite scents so I don't mind having a small spray in my handbag to freshen up my fragrance, and I haven't tried the Roberto Cavalli, which I'm quite keen to. I only wish we'd received a couple of each of these as one spray vial doesn't last very long!

Now, the item that I found quite interesting, the Bloom glitter eyeliner. I was actually really tempted to get this last month at the Bloom warehouse sale, so let's call it fate that it arrived at my doorstep! I do own another glitter liner from Too Faced, which I use occasionally, and I was quite keen to see how this one compared. This is actually glitter particles suspended in a clear base, so it's actually quite subtle, and you won't end up looking like you have disco balls on your eyelids. I like wearing it just on the outer corner of my upper lashline, over a matching eyeliner. You can also choose to dab some on your eyelashes for a bit of added drama!

Verdict? I quite liked this box! I thought it was great value for money and it's a great way to try some lesser known brands like LonVitalite without having to fork out too much cash. All the items are quite useful, so you do get some use out of it!

I know that some other subscribers were pretty unhappy to get the glitter liner, but it's actually really subtle, so do give it a go and you might find yourself surprised! It's also a really nice way to jazz up some simple eye make up if you're running short of time, I've added some quick EOTD photos below with the glitter liner, so you can see that it's really quite subtle.

If you really don't want to use this on your eyes, you can always use it to do some nail art, as I have demonstrated in the photo below by layering it over dark tips. Think outside the box and you might find yourself pleasantly surprised! Push comes to shove, you can always put a smile on someone's face by giving this away to someone who would appreciate it.

An alternative take on the French Manicure!

Hiya lovelies!

Happy Friday to everyone! Gotta love a short week at work, even if it's stuffed up my internal system, I keep thinking we're one day behind! I'm updating from my iPhone so photos might be a bit wonky till I get home and fix it.

As promised, here is a quick snap of the manicure I'm currently wearing. I did this using Rimmel Cranberry Surprise as my base, Revlon Lunar for my tips and the Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen in black for my flowers. It was just a quick freehand play, so the flowers aren't as perfect as I'd have liked, but still a cute effect overall, I think!

What do you think?

Much love,
MM.

EOTD - Purple smoke

Hi lovelies,

Here is a simple look I did using just one shadow quad, my Lakme Silk Route eyeshadow palette.

(Taken from StyleCraze.com)

The picture of the palette doesn't do it justice; there's a soft pink, a golden brown, a deep purple and a smokey gunmetal shade. The lighter two shades make excellent choices for when you're after a subtle look for work, or if you're pressed for time but would still like a bit of colour for a pick me up.

I've used the golden brown in the inner corner, soft pink all over the eyelid, deep purple in and just above the crease and also blended the gunmetal in the outer corner, before finishing with black eyeliner. I also used the first three shadows on the lower lashliner and finished off with the L'oreal 4D Lash Architect mascara.

I have included several photos below with different lighting conditions (but all taken in my flat, with artificial lighting, unfortunately).

I hope you enjoyed that, lovelies! I have another post coming up in the next couple of days showcasing some simple nail art that I'm currently wearing, so please stay tuned!

Much love,
MM.

NOTD - Bloom Sibella II

Hi lovelies!

I just wanted to share a recent NOTD I had on with you all. I'd like to introduce you to Bloom's Sibella II...I'd been lusting after this colour when it was released last year (I think) but I kept putting it off until I found it on sale at the Bloom warehouse sale two weeks ago! It was reduced to $4 and was the last one left, which was amazing as it felt like fate (oh, come on, don't deny you've felt the same justification when it comes to fulfilling a lust you've had for a while for a particular beauty product)!

This is two coats of Sibella II over my HG Poshe basecoat, and finished off with a layer of Poshe topcoat. I do like the brush, it applies very evenly and smoothly, and you get perfect, opaque finish with two coats of polish. I would describe this colour as a tarnished, antique gold rather than a bright gold...it's a gorgeous colour but if I'm completely truthful, I don't think it's worth $20. I am so very glad I have it in my collection, though! Let's take a look at some photos, shall we?

EOTD - Gunmetal smokey eye!

Hi lovelies!

I hope everyone had a great weekend? I've had rather a busy one so this post will be short, simple and sweet, so I can jump into bed and re-read my favourite book, The Host, for a bit before dropping off to sleep! :)

I had a friend's birthday drinks last night so I kept my make up simple with a gunmetal smokey eye, and some nude lipstick. Here are some quick snaps, I applied the sparkly silver from the Essence Denim quad over an Essence Stay All Day shadow in Rock Chic (which I specifically bought as I thought it would be a gorgeous smokey eye base). I took these photos when I got home about eight hours after applying it, and dancing and running in the rain...so they're not as pristine as when I first applied it (as evident by the patchiness on the closed eyes photos). On the whole though, they did quite well!

I will post the specific shades used tomorrow when I can get my brain to cooperate. Have a great week, everyone!

Much love,
MM.
