Rimmel London The Only 1 Matte Review + Swatches!

Hello lovelies,

There's a new matte in town, have you heard? The Rimmel London The Only 1 Matte lipsticks finally launched here in Australia this month, and I've been blown away by how phenomenal they are! The original The Only 1 lipstick range was pretty awesome, but in my humble opinion, these are so much better. That could be because I'm a tad bit obsessed with matte lipsticks at the moment, but these truly are just a little bit special.

The brand has this to say about the lipsticks - "The perfect balance of high impact matte colour, moisture, all day comfort and staying power".

Let's take a closer look and see how it delivers, shall we?

Rimmel London | The Only 1 Matte Lipsticks.
As always, let's talk packaging. These are packaged in a slimline, distinctive red tube which is easy to identify in any makeup bag or handbag. The bullet is slanted, which makes getting a precise application a cinch, as it glides easily around the contours of your lips.

The lipsticks also have a distinctive floral scent which is pretty true to all the Rimmel lipsticks. I don't mind it too much (though I wouldn't say it smelled as good as my Kylie or Huda Beauty lipsticks) and it's not discernable once on the lips, but it's something that people with sensitive olfactory senses might want to note.

Product Review: Rimmel London | Apocalips Lip Lacquer Swatches (and Giveaway)!

Hello lovelies!

Love lipglosses but wish they had better pigmentation and longevity? Me too! Which is why I've lost my heart to the new Rimmel London Apocalips lip lacquers! I first heard of these a few months ago when they were being raved about in the blogosphere, and being the impatient person that I am, ordered two (Apocaliptic and Stellar) from ASOS, thinking I'd do a review after trialling them for a while. I then realised however, that they were due to hit Aussie shores quite soon after, and since I was fortunate enough to also receive the entire set to trial, I thought I'd just do one big post for all eight shades!

NOTD: Candycane manicure.

Hello lovelies,

Another hump day done and dusted! It's been a bit busy in my world, so I'm unfortunately skipping the makeup tag this week. I do have a couple of other exciting posts coming up, but in the meantime, I thought I'd share this filler quick and easy nail art manicure I did a few weeks ago (yes, I'm very behind in my blogging schedule, eep).

This was achieved using *Maybelline Color Show in Coral Crush as my base polish. Using a dotting tool, I added a bunch of white dots (I used Sally Hansen White On) in a half moon shape. I then went back and added more dots (using Rimmel London Cranberry Zest this time) in the spaces between the white dots, and voila, it's finished! For a bit of fun, I added a line of dots in a mirror image on my ring finger for an accent nail.

Apologies for the shoddy photos, I literally only wore it for a day and was trying my best to get photos while out and about (the end of daylight savings is making this beauty blogger's life a lot harder)!

I hope you enjoyed that, lovelies!

Now, if you excuse me, I'm off to try and get to bed early, I think I need to catch up on some much-needed beauty sleep!

Much love,
MM.

Product Review: Rimmel London | Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick by Kate Moss.

Hi lovelies!

Boy, am I glad that Monday is over! It's probably the worst day in the week, there's nowhere to go but up from here on out!

I have some gorgeous new lipsticks from the new Rimmel London | Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick by Kate Moss winter range to share with you today. According to the Rimmel London, these are enriched with ruby powder to provide intense, velvet colour that lasts all day.

Unlike the previous range of Kate Moss lipsticks, which were packaged in black cases, these ones are housed in slimline red tubes, with Kate's signature logo on the lids. I really like that the lids snap on with a definitive click, it prevents it from accidentally coming open in my handbag and smearing lipstick over everything!

There are six shades in the new winter collection and they are listed as #103, #106, #107, #111, #112 and #113.

For a matte lipstick, I find the texture of these to be quite creamy. These lipsticks are very lightweight on my lips, with a velvety feel to it. I also find them quite non-drying, I can wear the more pigmented shades for hours without experiencing fading, at least until I eat or drink, and my lips still feel quite comfortable at the end of the day. The lighter shades are a bit less pigmented, requiring a bit more touching up during the day.

These lipsticks do have a distinct floral scent, it's not quite to my personal tastes but the scent does fade quite quickly on application so it's something I'm happy to put up with for such gorgeous colour!

Let's take a look at some swatches, shall we?

#103 is what I call a dusky mauve, #106 is more of a hot pink and #107 is a deep berry. All three are very pigmented.

#111 is what I'd call a deep red, #112 is a warm chocolate shade and #113 is a nude beige. The first two shades are very pigmented, while the last is quite pale and essentially disappears on my skintone.

As you can see from the swatches, the range includes both bold colours as well as more subtle shades.

The stand out shades that have fast become favourites of mine are #103, which is a great shade for a subtle wash of colour, and #106, which I fell in love with at first sight and find perfect for a statement lip. I'm also really liking #111 for the cold, winter months, and #112 for a bold red pout!

The Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick Winter range is available from all Rimmel London stockists (like Priceline, Big W and Target) and retails for $12.95. You can also shop the range online here.

Do any of these shades strike your fancy, lovelies?

Much love,
MM.
