Kiwifruit Inspired Makeup Look.

Hello lovelies!

Another (Wednes)day, another makeup look! This week's makeup tag is for a kiwifruit inspired look, so I decided to just play around and let my creativity flow. I'm actually quite happy with this week's look (aside from the wonky false lash placement - must.practice.more!!!), I think I surprised myself!

Audrey Hepburn Inspired Makeup Look.

Happy Wednesday! Not only is the weekend two short days away, but it's also time for the weekly makeup tag over at Aqeela's blog! If you're wondering where the last two tags are, I didn't participate as there was just too much going on. I have a self-imposed rule not to skip any more than two tags in a row, so here is this week's simple, Audrey Hepburn inspired makeup look.

Please note that I obviously don't look anything like Audrey, but I've tried to channel her simple, classy style with this simple look. I took inspiration from this photo below.

As you can see, Audrey's look consisted of bold brows, neutral eyes (with false lashes and lots of black liner) and a soft lip.

A mixture of the *Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick by Kate Moss in shades #112 and #113 (reviewed here)

Pink & Black Makeup Look!

Happy Hump Day! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another weekly makeup tag look! This week's theme is pink & black, which I was super excited to try.

This post is going to be short and sweet as I spent the whole day in Tasmania for work, waking up at 5am (after a largely sleepless night) and only getting home at 8.30pm, exhausted!

Tried an ombré lip with black and barbie pink (Ulta3 Hot Pink Kisses).

And substituted the lip for the Mirenesse Lip Bomb in #4 for some hot pink goodness...

Before switching back to Ulta3 lipstick in Hot Pink Kisses.

Goth Makeup Look!

Hi lovelies!

It's time for the weekly makeup tag again, and this week's theme is Goth! Now, I was really excited by this challenge but also really intimidated by it. It's a really tough look to pull off with darker skin!

I did some research and learnt that Goth doesn't mean super pale skin, it just means a paler version of what you already have, so I used a pressed powder heavily over my skin, and then just played up my eyes and lips. I also skipped bronzer and blush for obvious reasons. 

I had planned to wear black on my lips but the 'research' I did said not to go too dark on both eyes and lips, so I compromised by using a deep plum on the lips with an outline of black eyeliner. Products used are at the bottom of the post. I also saw some goth images with pretty patterns drawn on so couldn't resist trying that too! Looking forward to hearing what you think of my Goth effort.

And this is where I decided to get into drawing some pretty lines all over. :P

My eyes look just a wee bit evil in the photo below, I think...I love it!

I hope you enjoyed this tag. I'm not really sure I did this look justice, I'm thinking it looks a bit more vampy than Goth? Perhaps I ought to have gone with black lipstick after all! What do you think?

Rainbow Inspired Eye Makeup.

Hello lovelies,

It's that time of the week again where we play with the makeup tag from Aqeela's Blog! This week's theme is Rainbow Inspired Eyes. I'm going to make this short and sweet as I have a headache again (we appear to be headache central at The Made Up Maiden headquarters this week).

I used pretty much all the shades from the Beauty UK Soho Palette (best bargain buy ever as it comes in so handy for my makeup art looks), over Nyx jumbo pencil in Milk. Yellow (mixed with a bit of gold to make it pop) in the inner eye corner, followed by orange, pink, indigo, and blue on the outer corner, shaded with a well blended cut crease in purple/black. Finished with blue, green and yellow on the lower lashline to tie it all together, and there you have all 7 shades of the rainbow! I actually only used four eye brushes to do this look; a base shadow brush, blender brush, eyeliner brush and an accent brush!

I'll apologise for the lash application, I was getting very tired and couldn't be bothered putting on the lashes properly, then I got frustrated with the way they were sitting and took them off. It's a shame as the lashes would've really pulled the look together, I will try to use falsies more often in my upcoming looks. I'm also due a brow wax, as you might observe, but I've been trying to restrain myself until my appointment in two days as I'm still struggling to grow them out!

This is where I got annoyed and just decided to take the falsies off. I really should have touched up my eyeliner and mascara after pulling them off...

And happy coincidence, my eyes actually matched my nail polish, because that's how I roll, y'all!

(Actually, no, it's not, I just happened to have those nails on for an upcoming Easter nail art post I'm planning, but I thought it was a funny touch). 

Who knew it would be so hard to take photos of your nails next to your eyes?!
