Hourglass Limited Edition Ambient Blush Wardrobe Review + Swatches.

Hi lovelies!

Remember all the hype about the Hourglass Ambient Powder Wardrobe? Hourglass have done it again by creating a limited edition Ambient Blush Wardrobe! If you're a beauty fanatic, chances are you'd have seen this baby popping up everywhere on social media, as the hype has been phenomenal! As with the Powder Wardrobe, you get two shades from their regular range (Luminous Flush and Mood Exposure), as well as a limited edition shade (Incandescent Electra) that's exclusive to this palette. I'd always wanted to try the Ambient blushes, so I really jumped at the chance to pick up a palette with three shades included. While it's true that the pans in palettes are smaller than the full sized ones, it's seldom that I hit pan on a full sized product so I'm always in favour of palettes as you get more shades to add to your collection.

I'll share a little back story before I continue about the blush wardrobe. I actually wanted the Powder Wardrobe for the longest time, but dithered about it for too long and it ended up selling out as it was initially marketed as a limited edition product. I ended up purchasing a full sized Dim Lighting powder instead, which I love, but then the Powder Wardrobe came back into the regular range and I wasn't sure if I should invest $76 when I already had a full sized version of one of the shades. I have since purchased the Powder Wardrobe and am presently waiting for it to wing its merry way to me, but I digress. This is what made me include the Blush Wardrobe in my recent haul post, I'd learnt my lesson from missing out the first time! I'll be honest, I have absolutely no regrets about purchasing this; look at the photos, isn't it gorgeous?

So, what's unique about this Blush Wardrobe, and is it really worth the money? I like that the blushes are a blend of colour pigment and the finishing powders that have earned Hourglass a cult following. These blushes afford a luminous, glowy flush as opposed to a heavy swatch of colour, though they are buildable to a certain extent. All three also work well together; the blushes are fine milled and as a result, blend beautifully and feel really lightweight on the skin.

Luminous Flush is a lovely champagne rose that affords a subtle glow on my skin, while Mood Exposure is a plum shade that's the most pigmented of the three. The limited edition Incandescent Electra is a cool peach shade that stands out pretty well on my skintone. Overall, I think this is a palette that will work well on most fair to medium deep skintones, though very deep skintones might have a problem getting Luminous Flush to stand out.

The packaging is simple, luxurious and most importantly, sturdy, with a click closure which makes it the perfect palette to travel with. If you've ever wanted to try any of the ambient blushes, this is a really economical way to test the waters. I've been asked by readers if it's worth getting if you already own two of the shades in this range, and my opinion is this...if you travel a lot and really love the regular shades in this palette, go for it! Otherwise, if you already own the regular shades, it's not really worthwhile purchasing this just to get the limited edition shade, unless you have a weakness for limited edition palettes, as I do!

Remember, the Hourglass Ambient Blush Wardrobe is limited edition at the moment, though it may well come back as part of the regular range, like the Powder Wardrobe did. Either way, I'd suggest snapping it up as soon as you can if you don't want to miss out! It retails for $58 USD from Sephora or $76 AUD from Mecca, and both companies are usually very generous with samples. The price difference may seem deceptively large, but in actual fact, it's pretty reasonable when you take currency conversion and the cost of international shipping into account.

Do you like the look of this palette, lovelies? Do you have a similar story about missing out on a limited edition product that you'd like to share?

Much love,
MM.
x

PS- I'm going to be launching an exciting new collaboration giveaway in a few hours, so be sure to check back later! This will be open internationally!

    1. That was totally me with the powder wardrobe, Resh! Until I got sick of wanting it and just decided to grab it. :P

Maybe you can pop into Mecca and try out the shades...if you're really unsure though, it might be a good idea to sit this one out. It might eventually come back as a permanent item!
