Shu Murakami - Shu Uemura x Takashi Murakami Limited Edition Collaboration Review + Swatches!

Hi lovelies,

Did you know that Shu Uemura have collaborated with renowned Japanese artist Takashi Murakami for the cutest collaboration? This is actually the second time they've collaborated, the first time was back in 2013! This 2016 holiday collection focuses heavily on Takashi Murakami's 'Flower', which is meant to represent love, hope, peace and the wonder of poetry and magic in this world (aside from being intensely adorable, of course).

There are quite a number of things in the collection, of which I have three to show you in the photo below. I was kindly gifted with an eyeliner and a lipstick from the collection, and being the crazed Shu Uemura cleansing oil fan that I am (you can read my mini review on one of the Shu cleansing oils here), I also leaped at the chance to pick up a new cleansing oil in the limited edition packaging, so I dashed into the Shu Uemura counter at my nearest David Jones to snatch this off the shelf *ahem* buy the Anti/Oxi+ pollutant and dullness clarifying cleansing oil ($50).

Isn't the collaboration just too gorgeous for words? Keep reading after the jump!

Aside from the cleansing oil, which is more of a necessity really (don't you just love how we beauty junkies can justify things?), my favourite item has to a lipstick. There are five shades in the collection, and the one pictured is the rouge unlimited, WN255 ($42). What's interesting is two of the lipsticks have names (Rouge Bloom and Pinky Bloom, while the remaining three are just a set of letters and numbers - OR520 and RD164).

I was also sent the Cosmic liner in Me Navy 61 ($34), which is a gorgeous deep blue! It's my first Shu Uemura pencil and I was really impressed at how pigmented and smooth it was, and it was also really difficult to take off as it stayed put once it set! This is also available in black, purple and brown in the limited edition range.

As you can see from the swatches below, the lipstick has a balmy, almost glossy, sheer finish, which is very comfortable on the lips. I would describe WN255 as a rosy nude pink, and it's also lovely when worn over a lip liner for added depth.

There are a lot of products in this collaboration, namely eyeshadow palettes, trios, a custom compact case, the cleansing oil, block booster (primer + spf base), foundation compact case, curler, brush set and makeup box set. You can have a look at the entire collection on the website, or at a Shu Uemura counter at David Jones (or from the David Jones website).

My personal favourite has to be the CosmiKawaii eye and cheek palette pictured below, isn't it gorgeous?!

What do you think, lovelies? Will you be racing in to get anything from the limited edition collection?

Much love,
MM
