October 2013 Lust Have It Fashion and Beauty (FaB) Box Review!

Hi lovelies,

I'm back! Bali was amazing, it was a great experience and such a welcome break from the daily grind! It was also insanely HOT, so I barely wore any makeup at all! Much as I loved it, it was great fun to come back to Melbourne and be able to wear makeup again (and also have hair that didn't frizz insanely at the humidity). I spent my birthday there; it was a lovely, low-key birthday, but I felt very loved, got treated to a massage by the friends I went with and spent the evening watching the sunset! I just want to say a big, heartfelt thank you to everyone who showed my blog some love while I was away, I really appreciate it!

Anyhow, I was extremely excited to come back to Melbourne and find my October FaB box on my desk! Instead of the tote bag, this month's box was packaged in a box. I remember reading a post on LHI's wall asking readers if they preferred an extra item in lieu of the tote bag, and no prizes for guessing what the answer was! I couldn't wait to get into it, so here's what I received:

DURI nail enamel in Voodoo (hot pink)
DURI nail enamel in Black Diamond (black)
Out of Africa Pure Unrefined Shea Butter
ModelCo Colourbox eye shadow in Bahamas (cream/white)
Aviator Sunglasses (in leopard print pouch)
XO necklace
Statement Cuff

On to photos!

The FaB box arrived in a black...well, box.

October 2013 LHI FaB box.
Keep reading after the jump!

October 2013 LHI FaB box contents.
L-R: DURI polishes in Black Diamond, Voodoo and ModelCo eyeshadow in Bahamas.
Out of Africa Vanilla Shea Butter tub.

FaB exclusive accessories.
The FaB black, white and gold cuff.
So what did I think of the box? I liked it! I did prefer the items in the launch box but I'm still excited to use everything in this box.

The polishes are my favourite item in the box; hot pink is a favourite shade of mine and I love the combination of pink and black! I was also rather intrigued by the shea butter, it's supposed to be very good for eczema and I currently have a small patch of it thanks to the Roaccutane! The butter is a little hard to use but that may be due to the fact that it's been quite cold here in Melbourne, so I'm going to experiment more and let you know how I go.

I'm loving the accessories in the box, I have a slight weakness for aviators and these gold rimmed ones are really cute! I like that they have a UV rating as well, and that a little pouch was provided to protect them. The necklace is lovely but a little fragile-looking, so I imagine some care would be needed with it. The cuff is really pretty and will fit in well with some accessories I already own, it's just a little big but nothing I can't work with.

Last but not least, is the cute little shadow that came with the box. I've tried a couple of ModelCo shadows in the past, and they've usually been decent in quality (if a little bit shimmery). I think this shade might be a bit pale for me, though, so I'm going to pass this on to someone who might get more use out of it!

Verdict? I really liked this box and I can't wait to see what else LHI brings us in the future. I'm especially excited to try fashion accessories that I wouldn't have selected for myself!

The monthly FaB box retails for $35 and you can sign up here! You can go on a monthly subscription, with the option to cancel at any point, or choose to buy a membership, with several different options available. If you're keen to try this out, you can enter MAIDEN at checkout to get $5 off your first box.

What did you think of this month's box, lovelies?

Much love,
MM.
x

  1. I love the cuff, you're lucky you got to try this box for free! :) I'd be pretty happy with the goodies this month but I haven't continued a sub to this box. Look forward to seeing what's in future boxes and please share how that pink polish looks :)

Yes, I'm very lucky to be on the blogger list! Fair enough, definitely keep tabs on the box and see if they start to put out things you adore. :)

    1. Fair enough! :)

I think that we need to cut them a bit of slack since they just started...I've seen a lot of comparisons against HFB but there was a fair bit of mud slinging when HFB first started up too! :)

It will be good to see what the boxes look like in a few months. :)

    1. I think that's fair! We're completely spoilt with lower budget brands like Lovisa and Colette, which offer similar designs for a lower price.

  5. Yay for the sunnies, they look gorgeous! Let us know how the polishes go, for almost $20, they should be quite good! xx

    1. They're aviators, how could they not be! Can't beat the Mornington ones though. ;)

      I certainly will! xx

  6. I'm really glad I didn't sign up for the box. Other than the Out Of Africa product, everything else is "meh" to me. I would love if they had more than one box type, as it's impossible to have one box for everyone (every age especially).
