June 2014 Lust Have It Review!

Hi lovelies,

June review, I hear you ask? Isn't it mid July now? You'd be right, lovelies, and I'm not sure what happened but I somehow only received my June LHI Box and FaB box yesterday! I think there was some mix-up with my boxes, which is admittedly a little frustrating, but since LHI were excellent with their customer service regarding the delay and the boxes were provided for review, I think we can overlook it. I'm going to separate the reviews and do an abbreviated post for each box, because I'll probably have two more reviews to share shortly when the July boxes go out! Here's what I received in my June box:

Teeez Trendy Cosmetics Head Over Heels Nail Lacquer in Carmine Craze (full sized)

John Plunkett Glyco Peel (full sized)

La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo (deluxe sample)

ORLY mini nail files (deluxe samples) and toe separators (full sized)

Nuxe Creme Nirvanesque and Creme Nirvanesque Eye Contour (sachets)

Everything was packaged in the cute Lustre Beauty beauty bag, and there was also a discount code for $20 off a Lust Have It branded makeup brush set and another discount card for $30 off a Hello Fresh subscription.

John Plunkett Glyco Peel and La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo sample.
ORLY mini nail files and toe separators.
Nuxe Creme Nirvanesque skincare sachets - sigh.
Teeez Trendy Cosmetics in Carmine Craze.

So, what did I think of this box? Well, to be honest, all I could focus on was that gorgeous Teeez polish! Even if I hated everything else in that box, this item alone would have made the box a total winner for me!

But let's take a look at the other items, shall we? The John Plunkett peel was very familiar as I received it in the very first Violet Box in June 2013. I still haven't used that so I might pass this on to someone who might get some use out of it. The Effaclar Duo is something I've been wanting to try, so I'm definitely hanging on to this! I'm currently on Roaccutane but scheduled to get off it in a couple of weeks, so I'll be sure to give it a go once I've had the all-clear from my dermatologist.

I did think the ORLY mini files and toe separators were a slightly odd choice. While they are handy items to have (I like keeping mini files in my handbag for those times where you accidentally tear a nail while on the go, and well, I already own two pairs of toe separators), I can't say they were very exciting inclusions. I also thought it was a bit odd that both items had a sticker on it indicating they were GWP (gift with purchase) freebies!

Last but not least...the Nuxe sachets. Sigh. The bane of my beauty addiction. I don't think you get adequate use out of a sachet to determine if your skin is going to react well to new skincare, and they're just so darn hard to open. I confess that I've started to give them away or bin them these days because they tend to just pile up otherwise! However, my eye bags/dark circles have been a bit out of control of late, thanks to irregular sleeping hours, so I'm actually going to try the eye contour treatment!

Overall, the contents of this box made me...well, content (see what I did there?). It's not the most exciting box we've received from LHI, but it's certainly one I will get use out of, and the value is definitely there with the full sized polish and peel treatment.

If you'd like to try the box for yourself, you can get $5 off your first box by applying the code MAIDEN at checkout.

What did you think of this box, lovelies? If you're subscribed, would you have been happy with it? Do you hate sachets as much as I do?

Much love,
MM.
x

  2. Totally agree with your thoughts. I just don't get the GWP freebies, it seems like such a cheapskate inclusion! I'm looking forward to giving the exfoliator a try though :)

    1. Sarah, I have it on good authority that LHI wasn't informed that the products would be marked 'GWP'...so I suppose we can let them off the hook a bit for that.

  3. Ah, subscription boxes. They seem so exciting, but they always seem to let down :(

    1. They can be a bit of a mixed bag, Jacquelyn....I find that though there can be a bit of hit and miss, they usually even out in the end.

  4. Love the packaging, but looks a bit boring, tbh :)

  5. Their postal delay is absolutely ridiculous. I've been receiving my international orders faster than LHI. Anywho, I was happy with the peel and my teeez eyeliner, your nail polish looks very pretty though. Overall, the pack did not excite me 'too" much. Hoping for a better pack this month.

    1. I agree, the international orders seem to arrive super quickly these days! We can't blame LHI though, I suppose that's Australia Post's fault. :(

Fingers crossed we get our socks blown off this month. :)

  6. The polish is stunning! I am in love with the colour, can you perhaps do a swatch or a NOTD for a future blog ;) I have always wanted to try the John Plunkets Glyco peel so I think if I was subscribed I would loved this months box. Claire xx
