March 2013 Lust Have It Review!

Hi lovelies!

It's that time of the month again, LHI review time! I actually received my box yesterday but I'm a bit tardy with this post as I've been suffering a killer headache. I spent most of today in bed (probably a good thing as the weather outside is INSANE - cold, wet and with crazy winds), and I'm feeling much better now, so I thought I'd share my review on this month's box.

The 'new' Lust Have It collectible box.

The items from this month's box were packed in a pretty, pale green, collectible floral box with a magnetic lid, and are as follows:

BioElixia Bodyshaper cellulite contour creme (full sized)

Skindinavia finishing spray (sample, and such a cute one too)

The Natural Source Camouflage colour crayons  (2 crayons in maroon and gold - full sized)

DeLorenzo treaments equilibrium deep conditioning hair masque (sample)

Ocean Essence gold eye cream (full sized)

There was also a little pink heart shaped lolly and a Bioderma Atoderm sample which had been missing from my February LHI Box.

On to the photos:

So what did I think of this month's box? I actually already own the BioElixia cellulite cream which I won off their Facebook page (back when they were just called Elixia), thanks to a competition they held with my gorgeous friend Ling from The Best Beauty Blog, but I have yet to use it! I think it's a sign that I need to start, I'm far too lazy with moisturising! The Skindinavia setting spray is actually the item I'm most excited about, I love setting sprays and this one has been one that I've been longing to try, I also love the cute little bottle!

I was quite interested to see the two Natural Source Camouflage crayons, particularly when I saw the gorgeous arrays of colours available, but a bit disappointed with the colours I received (I believe these are #37 Purple Plum & #3 Bronze). Purple Plum would be perfect for use as an oxblood lip liner, but I seldom use such shades as they look quite vampy/goth on me (I know this because I tried it last night). I might use it for an eye makeup look (stay tuned). Bronze, which is more of a gold shade, practically disappears on me, so I think I will give this shade away. I find it interesting that these crayons can be used anywhere on the face, but I do find the quality a little unimpressive, given that the nib on the purple pencil was bent at an odd angle when I tore the seal off. The last four boxes I received (including this one) have all had rather dull shades in them, which I mentioned in my February box review, and I'm really longing for some bright shades for a change!

L-R: #37 Purple Plum & #3 Bronze

I'm also quite keen to try the DeLorenzo mask, I'm always looking for new, quick treatments to spoil my hair with, so this is definitely a welcomed product. The eye cream is actually a bonus product in the VIP boxes, I've been thinking that I really need to incorporate an eye cream into my daily routine, so one that's enriched with real gold sounds very luxurious! If you're going to start, you may as well start at the top, right?

VERDICT? I'm quite satisfied with this box, particularly as the Skindinavia setting spray is something I've been dying to try for a while, and as I love deep conditioning mask treatments. The cellulite cream and eye cream are just a bonus, and I will try to get creative with the purple liner. I probably won't use all the discount vouchers in the box, but I'm definitely going to use the 'buy one, get one free' pass to see Warm Bodies, a zombie romantic comedy, which has been on my list of movies to see!

I was debating dropping my subscription because I'm building up quite a mound of unused beauty samples/products, when I received an email last week from Lust Have It promising bigger and better things...

"This year we'll be getting more international brands, more premium brands, more salon quality products, more full sized products, more beauty videos, more limited edition collectable boxes, more competitions, more VIP benefits... MORE! MORE! MORE! That's why, when we introduce the new monthly price of $19.95 a month, you will become a part of our newly created "First Generation" group of subscribers, where we're keeping the prices low at just $14.95 a month for the next 6 months."

I have to confess that the lure of bigger and better items has me continuing to subscribe, for now. Also, if you purchase an annual subscription for $160 between now and the end of April, each box drops down to $13.30, which gives you a saving of $80 over the year (enter code ANNUAL to take advantage of this offer). If you'd like to sign up for the first time and receive your box for $14.95, enter code FRIEND at checkout (I don't get anything but the satisfaction of helping save you, dear readers, some money).

What did you think of this month's box, lovelies, if you were signed up? Did you get any different products? If you did, leave me a comment so I can see what you got!

Much love,
MM.

  1. I actually went ahead and purchased the annual subscription. I figured now was as good a time as any with the discount!
I'm excited to see what they come up with, but so jealous of the colours you received! I know you don't care for them, but I'd love them :P haha!

    1. It certainly was a great time to invest! I'm just not sure of how I'll be feeling in six months (I'm rapidly getting snowed under with unused samples).

Well, you want to swap shades, lol?

  2. I am so so tempted to get the annual subscription! You got the same purple plum crayon as me :) Thanks for the suggestion of using it with concealer btw, MUCH more wearable!
I also found that the crayon actually leaves a very nice dark berry stain if you blot it off, so maybe give that a try? It's a lovely colour that actually lasted ok on my lips (but I didn't eat after application so that may be why :P)

    1. My pleasure...it certainly is...I've found the concealer/gloss topper/lip liner technique a much easier way to wear colours that are a bit more 'difficult'. :)

I find the crayon a bit drying but will try again once I prep my lips properly beforehand.

  4. Great review. I am seriously considering Lust Have It after a couple of disappointing boxes from Bellabox. I had no idea about the discount code so I think that may have 'sealed the deal'!

    1. Hi Sammi,

I used it all day today and my makeup looked much more intact by the time I got home than it normally did, so I think it worked quite well! Will continue experimenting and write you up a review soon. :)

  8. I got a different LHI box to you, but am pretty happy with my haul - the same cellulite cream, same crayons (although in lime green and dark brown), a single green eyeshadow (stunning), a hair treatment and face mask. can't wait to see what they have in store for their improved boxes!

    1. Ooh, the lime green crayon and green shadow sound fabulous! Must confess I was slightly jelly of those with the face mask, it sounded really fun - but have heard mixed reviews about it.

      I can't wait either!

  9. That Skindinavia spray is so cute, it is definitely a great sample to have in a beauty box :) I think if you wore that liner with a nice gloss mixed in it could work, I think you could pull it off :)
