Mother's Day 2013 Gift Ideas!

Hi lovelies!

How have you all been? I can't believe how quickly this year has been flying by, we're already in May! May is a pretty big month for my mum, not only is Mother's Day on the second Sunday of the month (12th of May for this year), but it's also her birthday at the end of the month! She lives in Malaysia, so I'm usually a bit limited in terms of what I can buy/send her, but things like flowers, spa vouchers, etc, are always appreciated. I love spoiling mum because she always puts her family before her own needs. I do believe that most mums would say that it's the thought that counts, so I don't think you can ever go wrong when it comes to choosing a gift!

Nevertheless, on the off chance that you, dear reader, are at loose ends, I thought I'd come up with a gift guide to help you on your way to choosing the perfect gift for the most important woman in your life. ♥

Gifts under $25

The Body Shop Madagascan Vanilla Flower Cube - $18.95
Including the Madagascan Vanilla Flower Shower Gel (60mL), Madagascan Vanilla Flower Body Lotion (60mL) and a Lily Mini Ultra Fine Cream, it's the perfect mini treat for the mum who loves indulgent body products! I always make sure my bath kit is well stocked with these mini delights every time I travel!

Crabtree & Evelyn Assorted Hand Therapy Sampler - $25
Including the Rosewater Hand Therapy (25g), Nantucket Briar Hand Therapy (25g) and India Hicks Island Living Hand Therapy (25g), all packaged in a soft yellow box with red and white floral illustrations, it's the perfect choice for the mum who keeps forgetting to use her hand cream! She can keep one on her bedside table, her desk at work, and in her handbag! These hand creams sink into your skin beautifully, without leaving any greasy residue, and the India Hicks Island Living is one of my favourite fragrances in the range (as a matter of fact, just slathered some on before typing this!).

Gifts under $40

Circa Home Cafe Collection (Mocha/Buttercream/Raisin Toast) - $39.95
These limited edition soy wax candles will make any home smell enticing and warm, just like a hug from mum! They are also packaged in a lovely reusable glass jar that mum can wash and store little knick-knacks in! These candles are among my favourites due to how strong the 'throw' is (i.e. how well the scent carries through a space once you light it). Buttercream would have to be my pick as I'm crazy for vanilla based scents, but with three in the collection, there's something to suit everyone.

Clinique High Impact Favourites - $38
This gorgeous pack includes Take the Day Off (30mL), Quickliner for Eyes in Intense Black and High Impact Mascara in Black (7mL), packed in a pink mesh cosmetic bag with an orange trim. Take my word for it, Take the Day Off is a great makeup remover, and a great mascara and liner are handy essentials for every mum's makeup bag.

Gifts under $75

Roberto Cavalli Aqua - $70 for 30 ml
This brand new perfume to hit the market has a soft jasmine as the top note, lily as the mid note and musk as the base note. I own the original Roberto Cavalli perfume, and always get lots of compliments when I wear it. The Aqua has a gorgeous scent, and the musk prevents it from being too overbearingly flowery. It really is the perfect, classy scent to add a glam touch to any mum's day, and is versatile enough to suit all ages.

Kiehls Skincare Gift Box - $72
This box is the perfect gift for a mum needing new skincare and haircare, with the Ultra Facial Cleanser (150mL), Ultra Facial Cream (50mL), Lip Balm #1 (15mL), Ultra Facial Masque (7mL), Amino Acid Shampoo (30mL) and Amino Acid Conditioner (30ml), all packaged in one, tidy box!

Gifts under $100

*Bobbi Brown Limited Edition Lilac Rose Shimmer Brick - $85
I'm lucky enough to own this, and it's a gorgeous palette that will suit any mum! Part of the brand, spanking new Lilac Rose collection, the individual bright pink, golden pink and icy pink shades can be used separately as eye shadows  and when swirled together, create the perfect, flattering flush of colour for cheeks. It's the perfect way to wear shimmer without looking like a shiny disco ball!

Estee Lauder Mothers Day Makeup Set - $90
This gorgeous gift pack includes the Pure Color Intense Kajal Eyeliners in Blackened Black and Blackened Plum, Pure Color Glosses in Magnificent Mauve, Wild Sugarcane and Praline Paradise, Sumptuous Extreme Mascara in Extreme Black, nine Pure Color Eyeshadows and one Bronze Goddess Soft Shimmer Bronzer. It's enough to set any makeup lover's heart a flutter (it's certainly doing that to mine) and definitely gives you a lot of bang for your buck (plus, how cute is the snakeskin clutch?).

Gifts above $100

*Muk Style Stick 230-IR - $199.95
This revolutionary new straightening iron is said to be the world's most technologically advanced styling iron, utilising infrared light technology to infuse hair with shine, moisture balance and heat protection while straightening! I was fortunate enough to attend a bloggers launch and received one of these to take home, and I have to say it's one of the best irons I've ever used! It also comes with a 2 year standard warranty, so you never have to fear it going dead on you!

Ultraceuticals Radiance Pack - $170
This pack is the perfect indulgence set for mum. It contains the Ultra A Skin Perfecting Serum Mild, Ultra Brightening Serum and Ultra Protective Moisturiser, products that are meant to restore luminosity and radiance to skin, to give it a healthy glow, all while providing protection from sun damage. Sounds perfect for the amount of sun we are getting this autumn!

One last thing, if you're a bit low on cash and still need a gift idea, why not look at these options below?
  • Give mum a handmade voucher with promise notes - promise to make dinner, do the dishes, etc.
  • Make mum breakfast in bed (glass of sparkling wine optional), and run her a bath. It's the little things in life that count, and mum would be so grateful to have you waiting on her!
  • Make mum a gourmet meal at home. Fresh ingredients don't cost much and you can always google tasty recipes online! There's nothing quite as touching as having someone cook you a loving meal from scratch.
  • Make mum a little scrapbook of your most treasured memories together. You can both spend a happy hour going through the memories you share, and is almost certain to bring a tear to her eyes.
There you have it, lovelies, my picks for some great buys to fit all budgets! Do any of these catch your fancy? I have to confess that I'd also love to have some of these gifts for myself!

Much love,
MM.
