Product Review: Rimmel London | Apocalips Lip Lacquer Swatches (and Giveaway)!

Hello lovelies!

Love lipglosses but wish they had better pigmentation and longevity? Me too! Which is why I've lost my heart to the new Rimmel London Apocalips lip lacquers! I first heard of these a few months ago when they were being raved about in the blogosphere, and being the impatient person that I am, ordered two (Apocaliptic and Stellar) from ASOS, thinking I'd do a review after trialling them for a while. I then realised however, that they were due to hit Aussie shores quite soon after, and since I was fortunate enough to also receive the entire set to trial, I thought I'd just do one big post for all eight shades!

Rimmel London Apocalips Lip Lacquers.

Keep reading after the jump!

I love a pigmented lip, which is why I tend to favour lipsticks more than glosses, but there's also something to be said for the sexy shine a good gloss provides. That's precisely why these Apocalips lip lacquers are such a hit with me; they provide creamy, pigmented colour and a gorgeous glossy finish that lasts hours, all without drying out my lips! What more could a girl ask for?

Rimmel London Apocalips Lip Lacquers.

There is a great range of colours available to suit the most discerning tastes, leading from the creamy, nude Phenomenon to the almost neon Stellar, with eight colours available here in Australia:

*Phenomenon (peach nude)
*Nude Eclipse (caramel nude)
*Stargazer (gold shimmer)
*Solstice (plum)
*Celestial (dusky pink)
*Nova (barbie pink)
Apocaliptic (hot pink)
Stellar (neon coral)

I believe Solstice, Phenomenon and Stargazer are exclusive to Australian shores, but I noticed that ASOS have three shades listed that are unavailable here; Big Bang (red), Galaxy (purple) and Luna (caramel nude).

L-R: Phenomenon, Nude Eclipse, Stargazer, Solstice, Celestial,
Nova, Apocaliptic and Stellar.

I have to give a big thumbs up to the packaging; the faceted, opaque black lid gives way to a smooth, translucent bottom, which allows you to easily identify which shade you're picking up. The screw top also ensures there's no danger of it accidentally coming apart in your bag.

Rimmel London Apocalips packaging.

The Apocalips packaging has a great design, as you pull the doe foot applicator out, the narrow neck of the tube scrapes off excess lacquer, meaning that you end up with the perfect amount for each application each and every time! It's a lot of fun watching the gloss hit the neck of the tube and ooze back down the very first time you use it!

Check out the oozing action!

The doe foot is perfect for tracing around the contours of your lips, which saves you having to cart around a lip brush for touch ups, and the little well in the centre of the applicator dispenses the exact amount needed for every application.

Staying power is also quite decent; while the lighter shades do fade after a couple of hours, I find that the more pigmented shades like Apocaliptic and Stellar have longer wear, and do leave a pretty stain behind on fading, as evidenced by the last swatch below (I only had these swatches sitting on my arm for a few moments before I wiped them off).

L-R: Phenomenon, Nude Eclipse, Stargazer, Solstice, Celestial,
Nova, Apocaliptic and Stellar. (in daylight)

L-R: Phenomenon, Nude Eclipse, Stargazer, Solstice, Celestial,
Nova, Apocaliptic and Stellar. (in full sunlight)

Do these leave a stain? I'd say so!

The only (minor) drawback to these lip lacquers is the faint rose scent typically associated with most Rimmel lip products. While I'm not really a fan of the scent, it dissipates quite quickly, so it's something I'm willing to put up with for the gorgeous, glossy colour.

My personal favourites would have to be Celestial, which is perfect for daily wear, and Apocaliptic, which is perfect for a statement lip. The Apocalips Lip Lacquers retail at $15.95 and are available from standard stockists like Priceline, Chemist Warehouse, Kmart, BigW and Target. You can also purchase these lacquers online at Priceline (and at the time of writing this, on half price sale at $7.97 - run, don't walk!!!) or from ASOS (where they retail at $7.01).

Last but not least, on to the good part - the GIVEAWAY!! One lucky winner will win BOTH Apocaliptic and Stellar! This is open internationally, and all you have to do is follow the promps on the Rafflecopter widget below.

Please note, it is MANDATORY to follow me by GFC or Bloglovin', and to post a blog comment below (please include your GFC/Bloglovin' name with your blog comment). Please remember to do everything as stated, as I would hate to disqualify anyone! Good luck!
