September 2013 Her Fashion Box Review and Recap of the Blogger Brunch!

Hi lovelies!

Before we begin, a word of warning, this is going to be a very photo-heavy post! If you follow me on any of the social media channels, you might have noticed that I was fortunate enough to be invited to a blogger brunch hosted by the lovely Kath and Kerry from Her Fashion Box a couple of weeks ago. It was absolutely delightful finally meeting them in person, although I already felt like I knew them after having chatted with them for a few months through email, and from the interview I was fortunate enough to do with them a little while ago!

The blogger brunch was held at Top Paddock in Richmond, and we got to learn more about the girls and the inspiration behind the Her Fashion Box concept, together with the creative process that goes into the selection of goodies in each box. Both Kath and Kerry were wearing a few items from past boxes, and they were excellent models for their own products; it left me wanting to purchase everything that they were wearing (ladies, if you are reading this, please hurry up and open the online store)!

Here are some snapshots from the blogger brunch, just for your viewing pleasure!

We also each received a September box of our choice (classic, trendy or feminine) to take home. I had originally selected the Classic box, but as Jasmine was due to get a second feminine box from her usual subscription, she kindly swapped some of her items with me so I really ended up with the Feminine box! Here's what was in my box:

Her Fashion Box magazine with styling tips and Designer Brands catalogue
Sequinned clutch purse (I originally received a studded purse but swapped with Jasmine)
Maybelline Color Show polishes in Pink Shock and Onyx Rush (full sized)
Designer Brands Chubby Lipstick Crayon in Dollface Pink (full sized)
Designer Brands Kohl Black Eyeliner (full sized)
LonVitalite Collagen Firming and Moisturising Face Mask (deluxe sample)
PureTan Extra Virgin Organic Coconut Oil (deluxe sample)
Chunky rose gold ring
Chunky rose gold ID bracelet (I initially received silver in mine but swapped with Jasmine)

So what did I think of the box?

I LOVED it! There were two polishes in the box and two makeup items, which earn a great big tick from me. I actually have a few items from Designer Brands and have loved most of what I've tried. The lipstick has really impressed me; it has great pigmentation and feels quite comfortable. The only thing I wasn't impressed by was the packaging, as it came apart in my bag (the lid doesn't fit very securely)! I love Maybelline polishes and own quite a few; these shades are beautiful and surprisingly, I don't own them yet!

I've tried a couple of the LonVitalite masks but this will be handy for when I want to pamper myself, and I have been wanting to try organic coconut oil for a while. I used to detest the smell of it in my hair when I was younger but I'm game to try it again, so the deluxe sample will help me decide if I should commit to a full sized bottle.

Above everything, I LOVE the accessories! I fell in love with the rose gold set as soon as I saw it, which is why I was so grateful to Jasmine for swapping with me. While I liked the silver I initially got, the rose gold just called to me! I also love clutch purses so this one will get good use!

Overall, I think the box is extremely good value and I was quite thrilled with everything in it! The full sized box currently retails for $39.95 a month, but you can also purchase 3,6 or 9 month subscriptions, which bring the cost down further with each month of subscription. You can learn more about HFB by checking out their website. They also offer a 'boxette', a smaller version of the box which retails for $24.95.

The beauty of this subscription is you can chop and change between boxes, subscribing to each type of the boxes in turn. You can also fill out a detailed preference list to help tailor the items you receive. My next box is still going to be classic, but I might switch to feminine for the one after!

What do you think of this box, lovelies? Do you like the contents?

Much love,
MM.
