September 2013 Violet Box Review!

Hi lovelies!

Imagine my surprise when I received another dispatch email from Violet Box, saying that another box was on the way! I was thrilled, naturally, and couldn't wait to tear into it when it arrived yesterday. It was a bright spot in my day as I've pinched my sciatic nerve and could barely walk by the end of the day!

Here's what I received in my September Violet Box:

The Vintage Cosmetic Company floral slanted tweezers (full sized)

The Vintage Cosmetic Company emery board (full sized)

NS-5 Cuticle and Nail Complex (full sized)

Sinful nail polish (full sized)

Eleven Australia's miracle hair treatment (deluxe sample)

Timeless Truth Stem Cell extract mask (full sized)

There was also a discount card offer for Swissdent whitening toothpaste. On to photos!

September 2013 Violet Box

So what did I think of this month's box? I'll admit, I wasn't as highly impressed with this box as I was with last month's box, but that's mainly because of the awesome Jelly Pong Pong makeup items that were in last month's box! :) I think last month's box was a hard act to follow, but this month's is still pretty good value!

I'm curious to try the NS-5 cuticle and nail complex, it's a brand I've never heard of, and my cuticles have been looking a wee bit shocking in my recent NOTD photos (thanks to that darn manicure that I went for a couple of weeks back - they looked great initially but then started to look really dry a week out from it). While I have plenty of spare tweezers, it's always a handy thing to have around (I have a spare set in my handbag AND in my desk at work, the guys at work know who to come to for a splinter!) the design on this is pretty adorable and would make a great addition to a gift pack, and I can always use another emery board! I love that it comes with a floral design on one side and plain dotted print on the other. While I kind of wish I'd received another shade in the Sinful polish, I'm always happy to see a polish included, and this red is quite pretty!

I LOVEEEE Eleven (this is like a pina colada for your hair, it smells absolutely delicious), and while I'm already using this in the full-sized version, I like having a couple of travel minis to spare (I received one in a past Lust Have It box too). So much more convenient than lugging a large one around! Last but not least, the stem cell mask sounds interesting and I've really been getting into using cloth masks lately (when I remember to, that is), so I can't wait to try it!

Verdict? I really liked this box, and think it's excellent value for money! I know some subscribers have commented that some of the items have already been in subscription boxes offered by other companies, but the way I look at it is, it's not the company's fault that we are all beauty junkies and subscribed to other boxes! There will always come a point where there's an overlap between brands offered by various boxes, and there's not much you can do to avoid it short of just sticking with one subscription. You can always hand spares/extras out to friends!

Violet Box retails for $22.95, but you can currently get $10 off the subscription price by using code VIOLETBOX10, which means you get to try it for $12.95!! Run, don't walk, lovelies, sign up here!

What did you think of this month's box, lovelies? If you reviewed it, leave me the link so I can come and check it out!

Much love,
MM.

  1. I have to say, this particular box doesn't thrill me as much as their previous ones. I'm not subscribed to this yet, because I can't decide if I can take on another beauty box subscription!

    1. Oh, shame! :( Still, we all have such different preferences, we won't be happy with each and every box I suppose!

  4. I really liked this box, I know it's a bit of a let down after last month's amazing box but overall I am really happy with the contents and I will definitely get use out of all the products.

  5. Lucky you, getting a 2nd box to try :) If someone was already subbed to different box{es} I could understand the disappointment, but if this was the only box you got, I think it's a nice selection of goodies to try...

    1. I've actually been fortunate enough to receive all the boxes complimentary! I always think it's the end and then a new one shows up unexpectedly!

I think because we all have such individual preferences, and because last month's box was pretty awesome, this one looks a bit less exciting, but I actually will get pretty good use out of this one. :)
