How To: Create Goddess Waves.

Hi lovelies!

Welcome to my first ever hair tutorial! This is going to be a bit photo heavy so do bear with me. Before we start, I most commonly wear my hair straight and sleek, so here's what it normally looks like.

Lately, though, I've really been loving wearing my hair in curls and waves, so I thought I'd share my technique on how to get voluminous waves. I asked a friend for suggestions on what to call this look and she went with 'Goddess Waves', so that's what I'm sticking with!

It's quite simple and all you will need are these five simple items; a curling iron (preferably one without a clamp, I'm using the Remington Tribal Tong), a good hair treatment (*muk Argan Oil), a salt spray (DeLorenzo Elements Ocean Mist), a shimmer spray (*Kevin Murphy shimmer shine) and a large comb.

Products needed for this look.

Keep reading after the jump!
Step 1: Salt spray can be a little drying on your hair, so I like running an oil treatment through my locks before using any. Try to concentrate the bulk of the product on your ends.

Step 2: Spray the salt spray liberally through your hair. I find it useful to section my hair to make it easier to disperse the product evenly.

Step 3: Run a comb through your hair to help disperse the product and ensure your locks are tangle free. You can also turn on your curling iron at this point to let it warm up.

Step 4: Start curling your hair by wrapping locks around the barrel of the curling iron, starting from mid-length and working through to the ends. Hold each lock for a few seconds before letting it go and moving on to the next. My hair is quite thick so I find it easier to separate it into two parts, clipping up the top half while I'm working on the lower half.

This is what the lower part should look like when you're done curling. Curling larger locks of hair will give you loose waves, while small locks of hair will give you tighter curls.

Repeat Step 4 above with the top half of your hair, which should leave you looking something like this...

(I call this the poodle look)

Step 5: You may have noticed that the curls are quite tight, but don't worry. Run your hands through them to loosen them up into gorgeous waves.

Step 6: This last step is optional, but I like to finish with a good shimmer spray to give my waves shine and definition.

At the end of these steps, your hair should end up looking something like this!

What do you think, lovelies? Are you happy to give this a go? If you do, please tag me, I'd love to see it!

Much love,
MM.

    1. Aw Kat, you are too kind, doll! I know the feeling, seems like when we have short hair, we want longer hair, and when we have long hair, we fantasize about getting the chop!
