Valentine's Day Lip Ideas with Burt's Bees - Blush Orchid Tinted Lip Balm, Summer Twilight Lip Gloss, Rhubarb Lip Shimmer & Lip Balm with Mango Butter.

Hi lovelies,

The day of lurveeee, Valentine's Day, is almost upon us! Now, if your day goes to plan, you're probably going to be doing some smooching, so you're going to need to keep your pout in perfect condition! Never fear, lovelies, because I've got the perfect solution for you. *wink*

These gorgeous goodies from Burt's Bees are the perfect thing to help you to a kissable pout.

Keep reading after the jump!

First up, we have the Blush Orchid tinted lip balm. Now, I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with tinted balms because most of them are too pale to show up on my pigmented lips. Blush Orchid is no exception, it's a very pale shade that barely shows up on my skin, but it's a great way to tone down a bright lipstick. If you decide to wear a sexy red lipstick on Valentine's Day, this is the perfect shade to put on top as it provides moisture and adds a sultry sheen to your pout, much like licking your lips would do.

Next, we have the beautiful, soft Summer Twilight lip gloss. Word of warning, this one is a little sticky, so be sure not to wear it on a windy day unless you have your hair in an updo. While it looks quite deep in the tube, the good news is that this deposits a soft, sexy flush of colour that is extremely moisturising and gives your lips a gorgeous gloss that is bound to impress your date! My tip would be to layer this over a nude lip pencil for added staying power.

The Rhubarb lip shimmer has to be my favourite of the tinted shades. The slimline tube is perfect for tracing around the contours of your lips, and the pigmentation is strong enough that it could be mistaken for a lipstick. Think of this as the cheat's guide to a red lipstick, but without the high-maintenance factor. I'm giving it extra points for the pleasant minty feel and scent, which adds just a tiny bit of tingle to your lips.

Last but not least, you've got to try the lip balm with mango butter. This is a product I've carried with me for years, and is probably the most travelled balm of my stash (it lives permanently in my handbag and is now looking somewhat worse for wear, though still serving me well). It's gone to numerous countries with me and has performed excellently in every instance; providing me with a hit of moisture, all accompanied with the gorgeous scent of mango. Whenever I plan on rocking a sexy red lipstick, I prime my lips beforehand by using a moisturising lip balm, leaving it to sink in for a few minutes before gently blotting excess balm off with a tissue. It's also a good balm to have in your clutch so you can moisturise your lips after all that kissing you'll be doing, *wink* (gosh, getting a bit of a twitch from all this winking I'm doing)!

And just to give you an idea of pigmentation, here are some swatches for you (minus the mango butter lip balm).

L-R: Blush Orchid Tinted Lip Balm, Rhubarb Lip Shimmer and Summer Twilight Lip Gloss.

There you have it, lovelies. Do any of these appeal to you? What plans do you have for Valentine's Day? I'm going to be stuck on a work trip to Sydney so I won't have a chance to put any of these to practice (though my faithful mango butter lip balm will be coming with me, as always).

Much love,
MM.

  2. I am a real lover of Burt's Bees products. Not only are their lip products brilliant but one of my favourite products of theirs is the lemon cuticle butter. It is the only thing that I have found that has kept my cuticles in check no matter what time of the year it is. I love the look of the rhubarb lip shimmer and will definitely be putting that on my wish list :-)
