August 2014 Violet Box Review!

Hi lovelies!

This month's Violet Box just snuck in before the end of the month, as I received it two days ago! I was really excited to get this month's box thanks to the sneak peek we received last month.

Here's what I received in this month's box:

Evelyn Iona Lipgloss in Susan (full sized)

Foltene Eyelash and Eyebrow Treatment (full sized)

Be a Bombshell Eyeshadow Quad in New York City (full sized)

Camille Beckman Tuscan Honey Glycerine Hand Therapy (deluxe sample)

Appelles Rosemary Body Bar Soap (full sized)

On to photos!

Contents of the August 2014 Violet Box
L-R: Foltene Eyelash and Eyebrow Treatment, Camille Beckman Tuscan Honey Glycerine Hand Therapy and Appelles Apothecary Soap.
Be a Bombshell Eyeshadow Quad in New York City and Evelyn Iona lipgloss in Susan.

So did this month's box live up to expectations? Absolutely! Being a makeup lover, any box which has an eyeshadow and a gloss/lipstick in it is bound to be a winner for me, and it's just a bonus when there's a gorgeous hand cream and delicious smelling soap in it. Let's break it down further...

Truth be told, I would've loved to get the Be a Bombshell Quad in warmer tones (like Bora Bora), simply because that's what I use more often, but New York City looks like the only quad that all subscribers received. I'm still pretty happy with it as it swatches really nicely (photos below) and the blue-ish shade, Tease, looks right up my alley! I can't wait to create a look with this, and if the shadows play well, I might just purchase Bora Bora.

The Evelyn Iona lipgloss is a brand I'd never heard of before. This one swatches a pale peach on my skin, but looks almost invisible on my (admittedly, rather pigmented) lips, so it might be something I use when I'm trying to add a hit of moisturise to my lipsticks.

Evelyn Iona lipgloss in Susan and Be a Bombshell shadows (L-R) in Halo, Dancing Queen, Tease and All Nighter.

The Camille Beckman hand cream in Tuscan Honey is rather thick in texture, but it smells absolutely delicious! I'm going to pop this next to my bed so I can slather it on before I sleep. Quite happy with this brand as it was previously unknown to me too. I also love the little pot it came in, with a cute little cloth flower on top.

I'm actually quite keen to try the Foltene product. I actually purchased a similar product from Ardell quite some time ago (but have yet to get around to using it, oops). I'm intrigued to see if it will live up to expectations! Last but not least, the Appelles Rosemary Soap. While I already have this from another box, I do actually like using soaps in the shower and this made the entire box smell incredibly luscious, so I actually don't mind receiving this again.

Overall, I'm very happy with the contents of this box, what did you think of it? What shades did you get, if you're subscribed to it?

Violet Box retails for just under $24 a month (including shipping), though you can also purchase subscription packages which reduce the monthly cost. You can find more information and sign up here.

Much love,
MM.

  7. That's an excellent box! I would like to give it a go, I think. Perhaps when one of the other boxes run out? 5 subscriptions would be a little too much!
